Italian protest against firings

MILAN Former railway worker demonstrate at Milan railway station since getting their firing notice over three months ago.

An entire area at the Milan railway station is housing up to 160 former railway workers, who have shown their unwillingness to accept that their employer fired them in mid December last year. The Milan workers are part of somewhat 800 workers, who were laid of due to rationalization cuts by their employer Trenitalia. The workers still promise to keep on occupying and demonstrating until they get their work back. Trenitalia has currently rehired 20 demonstrators for different positions.
